Hawaiian White Ginger essential oil, zingiber zerumbet, is also known as Awapuhi in Hawaii, and is commonly referred to as wild ginger.
White ginger root essential oil has a strong, earthy ginger aroma, quite different from the oil distilled from the flowers (Ginger Lilly). and is the strongest part of the plant and has maximum therapeutic benefits. The ground roots were used by the ancient Hawaiians to make a drink that was used for upset stomach. Today the oil is most commonly used for stomach and digestive issues, and is beneficial for treating motion sickness, morning sickness, nausea, indigestion, cramps, and loss of appetite. After mixing with a carrier oil, it can be massaged right on to areas of discomfort. White ginger root essential oil uses include treating circulation, muscle, and joint issues including arthritis, fatigue, muscle aches and pains, poor circulation, rhuematism, and muscle strains. Other uses include relieving congestion, coughs, sinus issues, sore throat, diarrhea, colic, cramps, motion sickness, morning sickness, nausea, indigestion, and loss of appetite.
White ginger essential oil properties include anti-oxidant, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, anti-bacterial.
Ginger essential oil blends well with the following essential oils: sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, frankincense, rosewood, cedar wood, coriander, rose, lime, grapefruit, geranium, spearmint, lavender, orange and other spice or citrus oils.
Ginger root oil cautions - Avoid any ginger products in excessive amounts with a peptic ulcer, bleeding ulcers, very high fever, or inflammatory skin diseases. Ginger is a safe remedy for morning sickness when applied in small amounts. Other commercial anti-nauseates should not be taken during pregnancy without consulting a doctor, because of the possibility that they may cross the placenta and adversely affect the fetus.

ESSENTIAL OILS
The real thing… Essentials are typically distilled or extracted using different parts of plants/trees/flowers, etc. and have maximum therapeutic value. Generally, essentials have to be diluted with some form of base, or carrier. For example, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, oils and many other "carriers”.
Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil Safety
Never use therapeutic grade essential oils as a substitute for necessary medical care. Keep oils tightly closed and out of reach of children. Never ingest undiluted essential oils. Don't use undiluted oils on your skin. Dilute oils with vegetable (carrier) oils, one to three drops per tablespoon. Keep oils away from eyes and mucous membranes. Skin test oils before using. Dilute a small amount and apply to the skin of your inner arm or back of knee. Do not use if redness or irritation occurs. If redness, burning, itching or irritation occur, stop using oil immediately. Use less rather than more.
