TURMERIC/OLENA OIL
Here in Hawaii, turmeric root is referred to as Olena. The Hawaiians have used this root for generations for various health treatments, and also to make a bright orange dye for clothing. Our Hawaiian Olena oil is processed using the “root” of the plant which is yellow – orange (yes, it will stain some things so be careful – spot test). The Hawaiians learned long ago that the Olena root is good as a blood purifier, anti inflammatory, and for a variety of health issues. Ōlena was used for respiratory problems and as a blood purifier – toxin eliminator. Great for liver, kidney, gall bladder, pancreas… High in vitamins and minerals, especially Vit. C add to its amazing properties. It is also used in perfumery work, for oriental & fantasy type fragrances. Chinese herbalism used it for bruises, sores, ringworm, toothaches, digestion & liver congestion. Some strongly feel that tumeric helps fight cancer with its amazing therapeutic properties. Turmeric is naturally, ANTI: arthritic, inflammatory. ANTI: oxidant, bacterial, etc.
Only genuine organic Hawaiian grown "Olena", or turmeric goes into our Big Island hand crafted Olena oil. Our Hawaiian Olena oil blend is made with island grown turmeric root, some from our farm and also from local farmers. It's ground and dried, and then blended into our All-Hawaiian oil, which consists of coconut, avocado, macadamia nut, and kukui nut, and aloe oils, and natural vitamin E oil. Then we let it sit and age until it reaches proper strength. Next comes filtering to eliminate most of the ground material, and then it gets bottled. This method insures that you get all the turmeric's oil components without damage from heat, or aggressive mechanical extraction.
Naturally, ANTI: arthritic, inflammatory. ANTI: oxidant, bacterial, etc.
The essential oil of Olena should only be used in moderation and for a fairly limited period (no more than 3 days on and 3 days off). This is full strength – very powerful, especially if Hawaiian grown, so go very easy, build up to a dose, that works best for you. This is not a good choice for those people with heart issues and should only use with physician’s approval.

If you are sensitive or feel this oil is too strong, it is OK to dilute using whatever good quality oil you have in your home, i.e., olive oil or D.Medicine Woman’s All-Hawaiian Oil. This may or may not increase blood pressure and may or may not boost metabolism too high. Also, if you do not like the earthy smell of this Olena Oil, let us know, and we can add essential oils that may be more appealing, like lavender, peppermint etc. If you want an essential oil, please let us know by convo before purchasing, as the price may vary, and we'll make a custom order for you. Always consult with your physician. Keep away from children, pets and sensitive areas. Be sure to wash your hands after applying.
Treat Chronic Skin Conditions Curcumin/turmeric/turmeric has been shown to be quite effective in calming the symptoms of eczema, psoriasis, scleroderma, rosacea, and other skin diseases.
